The pom pom blanc mushrooms are edible and mediclinical mushroom available in Europe, Asia and North America. It also grows in the wild at the late summer and fall on hardwoods. A soft, round feathery mushrooms are in different colors such as white, pink, yellow stain with nutty flavour but lightweight. This mushroom is cultivated in small scale throughout the year. It’s also called monkey head mushroom. This mushroom is also cultivated in Japan and very helpful in digestive system, blood pressure, cholesterol and cancer protection. It’s grown on sawdust substrate.
Description of pom pom blanc:
Pom pom mushrooms are 3 toothed mushroom that has cushion shape, soft, round and feathery and 12” tall with 5”-8” caps in diameter. They are firm flesh with white or cream color of the mushroom surface covered with beard like small spines. It is very popular in German market and it has health developing properties. The bases are very strong and tough to remove from the host without any sharp knife. It’s also called lion’s head, spider whip and old man’s beard.
Storage of pom pom blanc:
This mushroom is stored under 0 degree C in the refrigerator with cooling process. They are kept in open container for 4-7 days in the refrigerator. They do not need to be washed.
Taste and use of pom pom blanc:
Pom Pom blanc has a mild, sweet and subtle flavour and it looks like a cauliflower and taste like a chicken. This mushroom must be juicy and have a black form.The unwashed mushrooms are cut into different pieces, they are generally baked in melted butter with spices and garlic added. The smaller specimens are stuffed. They are also prepared like a vegetarian schnitzel. Pom Pom mushroom can be baked on the oven and mixed in sauces and serve it with meat dishes.
